this got me thinking..... wouldn't be awesome if..... CCP made it so that we could try to board and take over EVE ships??? For example, someone with the appropriate skills has a titan warp scrambled with supporting fleets leaving it unable to escape. They could then initiate a contract to dust mercs so that we could attempt to take control of the ship so as to give it to the contractor instead of them having to blow it up.
Now according to eve lore, a titan is stupidly big, like 2 km long. It could practically be a city and this would create some very interesting enviroments to play in (which would vary depending on the type of titan it is) As such, dust mercs would have to fight for the titan the same way they would be fighting for one of 20 regions on a planet. This could be a slow grind, and would provide for some EPIC CQC. Imagine the slow progression of heavy squads clearing room by room the enemy resistance slowing crumbling.
it becomes clear to the titan pilot that hes going to lose his ship so he initiates the self destruct option. HOWEVER because so much of the ship has been lost it will take another 30 minutes to an hour before its ready to blow thus giving a deadline for the dust mercs to make. The fighting escalates to the command room where the enemy puts up their last stand to defend the center console. ect ect epicness!
Rules for this could be that the assaulting forces have an infinite number of clones, but they have deadlines to capture different parts of the ship. It could be like one of the modes in killzone 3 where every area a merc captures adds a little bit of time to their deadline.
meanwhile the defenders only have a set amount of clones that were in the ship at the time. A rough estimate could be a few thousand clones for them. The defenders have one of two goals, that is to either hold the ship as long as they can so that reinforcements can get there in eve and free the titan, OR to defend the ships command console long enough for the self destruct to complete.
The ships interior doesn't have to be all narrow hallways and corridors either, because its so big there can be massive rooms such as HUGE hangers for the differn't smaller ships they can carry. This keeps the fighting fresh and dynamic, and because the titan is so huge it would be possible to even have two to four battles going at a time.
Obviously the pay for such a contract would be high (in the 100mil to a 1b range) because of the massive losses that would incur, but titans are worth 70 bill, so the idea is that it would be worth it in the end for either side to win. (more so for the offenders then the defenders but its their fault for getting stuck in that situation to begin with)
What do you guys think? good idea? bad? obviously this would be a long time away, but i like to think about it anyway. |

If you died, enjoy your 1000 second respawn timer.
Also, Titans are about 12-14Km Long and for 70B, thats buildcost afaik, and you're not getting a titan at buildcost unless you build them yourself. Fitted titans go for about 120-150B nowadays.
I would unsub my super accounts within a day if CCP decided to let bunnies on my ship, since I can't do anything about it. You're basically saying you want a sure way to capture a Supercap, since with unlimited clones, you can't be beaten given enough time. Which is a baaaaad idea.
You're not looking to make a good gameplay experiencefor both games. it just seems you want a cheap way to kill supers.
no, im looking for a way to increase the interaction between both partys. Are you telling me that no ones going to come and help you within the time it would take to capture a ship like that? you have that little friends? to my understanding, you only travel in titans if you have support, and if your support cant free the titan to begin with, then your probably going to lose the titan anyway. As far as lag goes, they need only host the battle on the titan on a seperate server/node then the one hosting the main fight. Are you telling me you wouldn't take the oppertunity to grab a titan for only a bill of expenses if you could? |

Basically an EVE pilot can fly with a can-o-mercs module (CRU that can penetrate a ship hull) and can fire that module at another ship.
There could be any number of mission types.
Even though I would rather just concentrate on getting Planetary warfare working before heading into space, I too was thinking about how cool it would be if one of those super caps suddenly just disintegrated. And it was Dust Bunnies that did it.
Or if mercs could wheel a pod through the ship, hack into system, disconnect the original pilot and turn over control of the ship to the Corporation that hired them...
Or...
well i was thinking that once we got close to the captains room, the pilot would have the option to go into first person view inside a proto suit or something. He gets a complementary cartham pistol fully upgraded with two complex damage mods. "ill take as many of you ***** as i can with me!!!" is what he should be yelling over coms..... |
